Nicholas J. Wiedl Senior Project Manager

Nick Wiedl, Senior Project Manager joined the firm in 2003, with more than 20 years of construction, estimating, and project management experience in residential, commercial and public sector projects.  Nick, a graduate of Bradley University, holds a BS in Construction.  As our Senior Project Manager, Nick has full responsibility, from initial estimates through completion, for a wide range of projects, including multi-family, municipal, educational, detention, commercial and industrial facilities, along with site development experience. Additionally, Nick manages the Project Management and Field computer hardware and software requirements throughout the company.

Diego Labycz Project Manager

Diego started with Joseph J. Duffy Co. in 2002. He has over 20 years of construction experience as a superintendent and project manager in industrial, multi-family, residential, commercial, retail and institutional projects. Diego received his AS degree in Architectural Technology from Triton College and his BS degree in Construction Management from Purdue University. He has recently completed safety training that qualifies him to teach the 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA Safety and Health Training courses. Currently, Diego is PM for the 7 story, 75 unit affordable housing apartment building in Jefferson Park.

Nick Kasmar Assistant Project Manager

Nick joined JJ Duffy Co. in the spring of 2014 after earning his BS degree in civil engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. Currently, he is overseeing the building of Hope Manor Village scattered sites project consisting of 16 two-flat and three-flat homes in Chicago. Nick has recently completed a 30-hour OSHA safety class and assists in conducting safety inspections at his sites.

Nick worked on the complete renovation and conversion of a 6-story, 150-unit apartment building (100 studios, 50-1 bedroom units) into 100 units of 1-bedroom apartments for seniors in Oak Brook.  He also worked on the Montclare Senior Residences of Lawndale, a 120-unit supportive living facility in the Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago.

Donald M. Morales Superintendent

Donald M. Morales, Site Superintendent, has over 35 years of experience as a superintendent.  He joined Joseph J. Duffy Co. in 1995.  Don holds a BA degree from Northeastern Illinois University. In addition to his extensive experience as a project superintendent, Don has been a union carpenter for over 35 years.  This background on the intricacies of construction assembly further enables him to exceed the quality levels specified.

A sample of three recent projects currently/built by Don includes: 5150 Northwest Hwy, 7 stories, for Full Circle Communities, the Trianon Lofts for POAH, a 4 story, 24 unit market-rate apartment building near the University of Chicago; 75 units LP, KLEO Art Residence. 4 stories, 58 units for Brin Life Center, LLC, Chicago; and Porta Coeli Residence, 4 stories, 86 units for Catholic Charites Chicago.

Ronald R. Ammons Superintendent

Ronald has more than 39 years of experience. He has progressed from carpenter foremen to site superintendent for numerous schools, WWTP facilities, and college buildings for science research, libraries and multifamily units.

A sample of three recent projects built by Ronn includes: two apartment projects for VOA, Hope Manor I, consisting of 4 stories with 50 units on the west side of Chicago; Hope Manor II, consisting of a 3 story apartment building and 5 townhomes, for a total of 37 units of the south side of Chicago; and the 120 unit Montclare Senior Residences SLF for MR Properties, LLC

John Boban Superintendent

John has over 33+ years of construction management and supervision experience with multifamily and commercial projects ranging from low/moderate income apartments, rental units in low and midrise buildings to Luxury single family townhomes and retail projects. John is currently overseeing the 1212 Larkin project in Elgin a 48 unit development of six 2-story Townhomes and six 2-story 4-Flats and the Historic renovation of 3 story, former Larkin Center, into 11 living units.

Other recent Duffy projects built by John include: Hope Manor Joliet, 4 buildings, 3 stories each, containing a total of 67 units, including extensive site development for VOA; Bettendorf Place for Alexian Brothers, total renovation of a 3 story, 1920’s building into a 24 apartment building; and Wabash Studios, an 8 story, steel frame with caissons, for a 169 unit SRO for CCIL.

Charlie Norgren Superintendent/Carpenter Foreman

Charlie had worked in construction in Sweden before he came to work at Duffy in 1995 as an assistant superintendent.  He eventually joined the carpenter’s union, left Duffy to serve his apprenticeship and came back as a carpenter in 2001.  Since coming back to Duffy, he has worked as a carpenter, carpenter foreman, assistant superintendent and currently he is the superintendent on our Hope Manor Village project in Chicago.  Because Charlie has worked as a carpenter on nearly half of all the projects Duffy as built in the last 19 years, he has a broad experience with all types of construction projects and he has been trained by our best superintendents.

Douglas M. KarcavichLEED AP BD+C Project Estimator

Doug joined the firm in 2004.  Doug earned his BA from the University of Illinois. Prior to joining Duffy worked for 4 years at a national cost consulting firm on commercial, institutional, healthcare and industrial projects throughout the US.  Since joining JJ Duffy, he has focused on Senior as well as Family Housing projects of all types for both non-profit and for-profit clients in addition to other types of commercial and industrial projects.  Doug was also a member of a national insurance firm’s catastrophe assessment team. He works on all the architectural, structural and MEP components, compiling costs required for the final estimate. Doug participates in all pre-construction activities, including purchasing and subcontracting.

Michael Godek Project Estimator

Mike joined the firm in 2010.  Mike earned his MS in Technology and BS in Industrial Technology, Construction Management from Eastern Illinois University.  Mike has over 25 years’ experience in the Chicagoland market in areas of multi-family residential, site development and commercial construction with Duffy. His past and present experience spans from on-site field construction management to land acquisition, due diligence reporting, estimating and project management functions with responsibilities for individual project values up to $40,000,000 and overall project development budgets in excess of $130,000,000.

In addition, Mike holds positions as an instructor at area colleges that includes coursework preparing students to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management.
