KLEO Art Residences Project Begins
KLEO Art Residences Project Begins
Family Housing
The KLEO Art Residences is closer to reality with the start of construction this past January. The 58 unit, 4-story building will include apartments for artists and their families. Studio space for the artists and retail space will cover 5,000 square feet on the ground floor. It is exciting to note that the building exterior will be a first for a Chicago multi-family housing. The two-toned, translucent panels will allow ample light for the artists to work. Award-winning designer of the building, JGMA Architects, specified the utilization of these curtain wall panels made of polycarbonate.
Rendering of the finished building
The Safeway-JJ Duffy Joint Venture has moved past excavation, installation of the foundation and underground. Work is beginning on the steel superstructure of this 4- story building.
The completed three masonry shafts
The $23.5 million project is a development of Brin Life Center, LLC. When completed, it will be a major contribution to improve the stretch of Garfield Boulevard in the Washington Park neighborhood, which includes the University of Chicago’s Art Block Project.
